FAQ
Common questions
What is TV ad trafficking?
Everything between a finished ad and it airing: clearance, subtitles, delivery of the file to each broadcaster and the copy instructions that tell them which ad goes in which spot.
Does my ad need Clearcast approval?
Yes. Every ad shown on UK commercial TV has to be cleared by Clearcast against the BCAP Code before it can air. Clearance runs in three stages: script, rough cut, then the final clocked master. Getting the script cleared early saves expensive re-edits later, and we can pick up at whichever stage you're at.
What are pause ads?
A newer format on streaming and broadcaster VOD services: an ad shown on screen when the viewer pauses what they're watching. Pause ads still need Clearcast clearance, and we clear and traffic them alongside your spots.
What's a clock number?
The unique ID for each version of your ad, in the format AAA/BBBB123/030: agency, advertiser and product code, then the duration in seconds. Each cut and length gets its own.
Do TV ads need subtitles?
Channel 4 has required subtitles on all new ads, linear and streaming, since 1 March 2026, and other broadcasters are moving the same way. We include them as standard so you're covered everywhere.
What is CARIA?
CARIA is the industry platform for sending copy rotation instructions to UK and Irish broadcasters. It links each version of your ad to your media booking, and most broadcasters won't air copy without it.
Can you look at our script before we commit?
Yes. Send it over for a free script read. We'll tell you what Clearcast is likely to query before you've spent anything on production.
Can you fix the film if Clearcast asks for changes?
Yes. Supers, legals, end frames and captions are handled in-house, so nothing has to go back to the edit suite and your TX date stays safe.
Can you deliver international versions?
Yes. We finish ads to broadcast spec for markets including Canada, Spain, Argentina, Chile and Brazil, then play them out to the stations there or hand them to your local agency for clearance, whichever you need.
How fast can you turn a job around?
If the ad is cleared, delivery and instructions can go the same day. For a brand-new ad, tell us your first TX date and we'll tell you straight whether it's achievable.
